Finding peace on my living room floor

Just before I was about to turn off my computer late Sunday night and head to bed, I read something online that just broke me. I'm not going to link to it, but it broke me. So I went to the place I go when I am broken.

I crumpled from my space on the couch to the floor of my living room.

This floor knows me well.

It has heard the deepest of my heart cries.
It has listened to me cry.
It has listened to me yell.
It has listened to me VLOG.
It has comforted me when the things of this world weren't offering me what I wanted them to.

This floor is the place I go to when I need Jesus in a way deeper than I usually need Him.

I always need Jesus.

But sometimes I just have to get on my knees, or on my face, or like I did Sunday, on my back on the floor in order to meet Him.

I wept for the sick.
I wept for the needy.
I wept for the lost.

And I told Jesus I have to trust You.

And then I wept for the lost again, because they don't get to have that.
They don't get the peace that I find on my living room floor.

Where do you physically go when you need peace? I find that peace in Jesus but I tend to go to my floor. You?

Journals of Yesterday

I was reading recently through a journal from a few years ago, and was overwhelmed by some of the words that I'd written.
Words like:
"I just can't seem to find hope or peace anymore." and "I know what I need to do to be happy, but I just feel so captive and unable to get there".

When I see where I was, and see where I've been brought to through the reconciliation of the cross in my life, I realize that God is so powerful.
Jesus changed everything.

I'm not happier now.
Happy is the wrong word.

I have His peace.
I have His joy.
I have His hope.

It's all Jesus.
He saved me.

My joy is based on Him.
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Tide and Sunsets

There's something about the tide that brings comfort to my soul.

Watching how in perfect rhythm it moves inward.

Never hesitating, and going just the right amount every time.

It comes in when it is supposed to.
It goes out when it is supposed to.
Wow.

Such an incredible thing to watch.
Such a shout of praise to the Creator God.
Such a reminder for me that He is God, He has a plan, and His plan is always fantastic.
Such a direct point to my saviour Jesus.

When I lived in Liberia, the thing that brought me the most peace was to watch the sun set. This was because as the sun set over the ocean horizon I knew that it was still with the people whom I loved, and as I got to greet the sunshine each morning, it had just left the people whom I missed. And it brought me true peace.

It's called the peace that passes understanding because it's kinda confusing, yet oddly not stressful to think about. And I got it.
