Yield

I was driving a few week ago and was attempting to yield onto a new street.

I'm also currently (and this is a consistent, consistent, forever season,) in a season of discerning God's will for my life these days. I'm leaning into Him and attempting to learn how to trust more - which I've realized is only learn by trusting more. funny how that works

Anyways, I was driving and trying to yield.
And Jesus leaned into my thoughts and said

yield to Me in these decisions
it's just like driving
if you try to go forward on your own without looking, without checking your mirrors, without making sure it's a safe and wise decision - you'll crash
you have to yield to Me
because I've got this road
I've got your whole life in my hands
and I have never led you wrong yet

So, just like every other day, I'm making an attempt to trust Him more, to yield to His plan and to stop just moving around as if I know what is going on.
This heart of mine loves Jesus with all I've got, and even with all I've got I'm still slipping up all the time.

Sometimes the things God does look different than I want.

His grace is a stop sign.

His mercy is a red light.

His love feels like a bump in the road.

His peace looks quite like the end of a season.

His hope sounds surprisingly like a bad idea.

I've got to yield to Christ.

I want to yield to Christ.

His will is the perfect plan.
My will is near sighted.
His will sees eternity.

Okay fine - He wins.

Trusting in Jesus and yielding continually to His plan is the only way to avoid a fatal crash.

Moving Forward

I'm taking a bit of a break from "Thursday - Thanks!" today.

Part of me thinks that I should just scribble down a list of things I'm thankful for - for the sake of blogging consistency.

But a bigger part of me thinks that is crap. For the sake of blogging authenticity, I'm just going to share some words I wrote weeks ago but never hit publish here on the blog.

. . .

Sometimes I look back on situation that in the moment felt as though God was taking away something that I wanted. Or other times when I desired to do one thing and it felt as though God wouldn't let me do what I desired. Almost without fail I look back and see that God took me out of something and placed me in something which gave (and gives) Him more glory, or that He forced me to move out of one thing into something new so that I would know Him more. It makes moving forward a lot easier.

. . .

That's all.

There's so much to come that I'm so unsure of and yet so confident in because Christ is with me.

I really am thankful for much. I'm grateful and blessed, overwhelmed by grace and so many things that are good and from God. I just don't need to make a list today.

Caught Tears

Anyone else ever have those moments where everything is perfect? Right until it isn't?

I'm so grateful for my Saviour.

I rejoice in the truth shared in Revelation 21 when I learn that someday there will be no more tears, or mourning, or crying or pain because the old order (this world that is filled with sin) will have been passed away.

I gain comfort from Psalm 56 where I learn that the Lord keeps track of my tears. That's a big job.

I take a small ounce of peace in knowing that I am not the only one who mourns areas of life. I can look at David in numerous places (or Psalm 6 or Psalm 25 or basically any other Psalm - let's be honest, David was an emotional dude) or a lot of that comfort from Jesus (in Matthew 14) when scripture shares that Jesus mourned a death of a friend.

I can take deep joy in knowing that Jesus walked through all I walk through and remained faithful until the very end and beyond.

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.
(1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 ESV)

I take comfort in Christ.

I take my comfort in Jesus because Jesus is my sustenance. He is my daily bread and my lifetime friend.

Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
(Matthew 7:9 ESV)

God is not in the habit of handing out stones. God is faithful to fulfill His promises. His biggest promise (I would say) is grace.

Grace is overwhelming.

I need it so much.

Tonight I whispered to God,

"God, I'm not quite sure why this is happening" and He said, "Relax, I know what's going on".

Thank you Lord. I'm going to keep trusting in God for all these issues that burden my heart today.

But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love,
        will enter your house.
I will bow down toward your holy temple
        in the fear of you.

(Psalm 5:7 ESV)
